| Winifred T. Caldwell started drawing pictures with her typewriter in 1944. In the 1960's she wrote,"...years ago I saw entries to a typewriter art contest...they were made up of the usual or familiar type (X's, O's, etc.). I could not see originality in it, so I decided to draw with a typewriter in a style that would resemble etchings, and so my brainchild 'TypEtching(TM)' was born."
